Meet Kristin, Vermont Doula serving the Greater Chittenden County Area:
My name is Kristin Martins, a Vermont doula with a passion for birth and supporting women. I am a born and raised Vermonter. I graduated from The University of Vermont with a BA in Chemistry. I was unsure of where this degree would take me. Well, when I became pregnant with my first child, my passion for birth blossomed. I knew my calling was to be a birth professional and I began down that path by starting my labor doula certification through CAPPA (Childbirth And Postpartum Professional Association). Then this Vermont doula was born!
I live in Waterbury, VT with my husband, two daughters, and our cat. I love the changing seasons of Vermont and exploring all each season has to offer from snowboarding and hockey in the winter to biking and going to the beach in the summer.
My Birth Philosophy
I believe birth is a normal, natural biological process. Women are all unique individuals, with unique needs, and this holds true in childbirth. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to give birth- what makes an “ideal” birth for one woman does not necessarily work for another. Women deserve respectful, loving, and caring support and encouragement. The birth of a child may only be measured in hours (typically) but it can have long lasting impressions- hopefully leaving a lasting feeling of empowerment and pride.
